I run through the dark forest, the place I return to every night. My feet stomp through the snow, leaving footsteps behind me. The sounds of crows flapping their wings and their calls fill the air as the sounds of trees rustling behind me gets closer. I run faster through the snow, not wanting to be caught by the thing behind me. I keep running, soon entering a large opening covered with destroyed trees lying on the ground covered in a light fog. I jump across the broken trees, trying to find a place to hide. I see a large, uprooted tree and quickly run behind it, putting my back against the log. My heart beats harder; I try to calm myself down, but it is no use.
My breath hitches when I hear the loud sound coming from behind. Fear creeps into me as I cautiously turn and look over the edge. There I see it, covered in light fog, having only the moon to light it up. A large creature, at least thirty feet tall, with a skeletal body and ragged black skin draping from the bones. It has an exposed hollow rib cage; on its head, three large wolf skulls with no lower jaw; they look in three different directions. On its back, an assortment of large deer antlers sprouts
off it.
The creature scans the ground, and its large hands start moving things around. My heart pounds harder, seeing it savagely search. I do not know what to do; I look around, trying to find a way to escape. I panic. The creature is getting closer. Then I see my salvation. The only problem is there is no cover over there, so I’ll have to be quiet, so it does not notice me. Taking a deep breath, I slowly cross; I hear the creature digging as if looking for me underground. I am almost there when it lets
out a loud screech. I turn my head, and my blood runs cold. It stands up and looks at me. It sees me. I run as it gives another screech and chases me. I need to get away from it; I do not know how much longer I can last. I grow tired from running; I need a place to hide. There is no escape this time.
Its long bony hands wrap around me and slowly pick me up. I desperately squirm, trying to get free, but it is no use. I stare in fear as I get to the face, knowing this is the end. I hit its hand repeatedly, hoping it would let me go. I scream as it brings me closer to its mouth. Shutting my eyes, I wait for the end.
Nothing happens.
I open my eyes to find myself in a dark room… my bedroom. I am lying in bed all sweaty. It was just a dream. I looked to my left and froze, seeing a large claw gash on the window.
It was just a dream.
It was just…
