PANKU’s 60th Anniversary Issue has been recognized as a “REALM First Class” by the NCTE

Feburary is a big month at Panku, aside from welcoming new members and starting to review submissions (due the 10th!), we have received BIG news! Our 60th anniversary edition won the REALM First Class award, NCTE’s (National Council of Teachers of English) highest distinction to recognize excellence in student literary magazines!

As per the NCTE’s website, “The REALM program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing.”

Out of 422 student magazines across 46 states and five countries, Panku was one out of 125 to be recognized with this award.

On behalf of the Panku team, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to all of the faculty and student editors who were involved and formally recognized for the creation of this issue, namely Marjetta Geerling, Alanna Robbert, Melanie Hosein-Finol, Yuri Garcia, Ignacio Beroiz, Leia Walker, Mark McCluster, Paola Alberto.

Last but not least, we’d like to recognize the many students that have submitted to our publication over the years, as without their incredible talent and initiative, our magazine simply would not have been possible.
